Virginia City, Montana

This ghost town has a wide variety of buildings. Many have been renovated for use as gift shops and exhibits of antiques. A number of buildings were also moved from other towns to here in order to preserve it for the public.

We took a tour of the town on an antique fire truck. The tour guide did an excellent job of telling us stories about the buildings and its past residents.

Ennis RV Park - our favorite

This park was the cleanest and nicest we have seen in any of our travels.
We stayed for 3 days. There was a large lake nearby and we figured out back roads to take and drove completely around it. Great fun with lots of falcons, cranes and antelope to entertain us.

We loved the interesting metal sculpture at the entry of this RV park.

More Shopping Virginia City style...fabric even

Note the bins of beans, rice and candies across the bottom of this counter.

Even bolts of fabric...now we are talking my type of shopping.

These bolts had trims, laces and ribbons. Can't imagine what it would have been like to purchase all the goods and trims for those big billowy dresses and hats.

Early Hardware Shopping

Look close and you can see a pair of old skates hanging from this ceiling....not too old...I can remember wearing that style myself.

Stocking Up in Virginia City, Montana

We were very impressed with the complete and authentic displays in the Virginia City stores. Each one had the door open but a small area you could stand in to take pictures without touching any of the valuable antiques.

Misty Got Her Way

After 5 days of "dry camping" in Bannack, Misty was ready for us to move on. It was time to try to get away from the bugs and mosquitoes and besides...mom and dad needed a good shower.

Musicians Everywhere

This was a very talented family. Grandpa was very proud of his two grand daughters and their singing ability.

There were about 8 different venues in town with musicians circulating from one to another. It was quite entertaining and once you found a shady spot, you could theoretically just sit there and let the groups come to you.

We were very entertained by the loose style of dress displayed by the attendees.

Sexy Safety For Bannack Days

Each of the period vehicles transporting/shuttling people from one end of Bannack to another had sturdy steps on the rear for the public to safely get on and off. They always had one of their slightly "soiled doves" on the back stairs to assist a person getting on and off and then signal to the vehicle driver that it was OK to proceed.

Gee, what's Gary staring at???
