Reflections on Veteran's Day 2005

It's the Soldier, not the reporter
who has given us the freedom of the press.
It's the Soldier, not the poet,
who has given us the freedom of speech.
It's the Soldier, not the politicians
that ensures our right to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.
It's the Soldier who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag,
and whose coffin is draped by the flag.

I am hoping that you made the time today to say Thank You to the many Veterans around you and that you can adopt it as a daily practice.

We owe them a great debt. They gave us so much when they stepped forward proudly to serve their country. They continue to give...many living with the results of battle injuries, illnesses and diseases years later from exposure to toxic elements (such as Agent Orange) and the nightmares and numerous effects of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

If you can find a way to make the Veteran's burden lighter...do it. Love them, comfort them, appreciate them and then enjoy your freedom that was bought for you at so high a price.

We are truly blessed to be so fortunate!
